‘Be thou my Guardian and my Guide
And hear me when I call;
Let not my slippery footsteps slide,
And hold me lest I fall’
Isaac Williams
News from the Nest has been quiet for some time but the swans have not been idle. Twice mentioned in the Berwickshire News, once for having been rescued by the good folk of Eyemouth from being swept out to sea on a cold November night.
A second mention to the cygnet with the damaged foot, rescued and now overwintering at the Berwickshire Swan Trust before release into the colony at Berwick.
The remaining six cygnets and their parents often make camp on the harbour slipway, anticipating offerings of bread from kind hearted locals.
So much care and attention. Enough to see them through the turbulent days of the coming months?
Or will they need a guardian angel?
