Classic car on the harbour

Pre war Britain came to the harbour today in the shape of  a classic Austin Seven Saloon. Nicknamed the Baby Austin, they were built by the Austin Motor Company in 1922.  Such was their popularity that by 1939 there were some 290,000 in service throughout the world.austin 7:1

My father owned an Austin Seven after the war. He called it the Red Peril, indicative of the love-hate relationship he had with it, centred mainly on the crank shaft.

The Pre War Austin Seven Club is the largest international club today offering advice and opportunities to members with or without cars.
